January 2023 Alaskan governmental referendums

From Pixlies

The Governmental Election of the Alaskan Republic was held on the 14th of January 2023 from 10 AM to 10 PM Eastern Time Zone. It was the first election ever that Alaska had held, 10 days after its creation. In the election, Alaskans had voted on what type of republic the country would be, the voting method they preferred using, where their capital should be located, whether they should have a constitution and an elected committee to create the constitution, and lastly, if there should be any form of royalty in their country and what role they would serve. The election was originally postponed from January 5th, a day after the creation of the country because the facilitator of the election who was also the temporary leader at the time, Ace, believed it would be too short of a notice and that the weekday could cause low turnout.

Results[edit | edit source]

There was seven ballot questions that Alaskans voted on.

First Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The first question asked whether Alaska's republic should be a Representative Republic or an Elective Constitutional Republic. In a landslide, an Elective Constitutional Republic won over a Representative Republic 4-1.

Second Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The second question asked if voters would prefer voting in the future through Google Forms, or a discord bot named the Psephos Bot. Narrowly, Google Forms were preferred over the Psephos Bot 3-2.

Third Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The third question asked where the capital of the country should be, with the two main locations being Anchorage and Juneau, and an option to type another location. In a landslide, Anchorage won over Juneau 4-1.

Fourth Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The fourth question asked if the country should have a constitution or not. With complete support, all voters 5-0 said yes to a constitution.

Fifth Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The fifth question asked voters who said yes to the fourth ballot question if an elected committee should be created, the Constitutional Committee, to create the constitution.

Sixth Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The sixth question asked if there should be any form of royalty and if they should have any power in the government. With no support, all voters 5-0 voted against having royalty.

Seventh Ballot Question[edit | edit source]

The results of the seventh question was not shown and irrelevant because all had said no the the sixth question and the seventh question was about what role royalty should have if the voter said yes.

Evaluation and Voter Turnout[edit | edit source]

After the polls had closed, Ace had created a document presenting the official results of the election. In this document, he gave that the voter turnout of the election which was 71.43% with 5 ballots. This means at the time there was 7 eligible voters and out of them 5 had voted. Also, Ace along with NeedlessMemeing had looked for any election fraud and both confirmed by signing at the end of the document that the election was fair.[1] This election would lead to two upcoming elections merged together, the 21 January 2023 Alaskan Elections, which will consist of a Presidential Election and Constitutional Committee Member Election.
