Mauriocracy

From Pixlies

Mauriocracy is a system of governance under a nominal democracy in which nearly all power is vested in Maurice. A state under a mauriocratic government is referred to as a "Maurice Republic."

Under a mauriocracy, Maurice and/or his closest allies directly hold power as head of state or government, or indirectly as a "deep state." In these Republics, Maurice allegedly removes his political opponents who grow powerful enough to take charge of the government/state.

Instances[edit | edit source]

There have been many instances of alleged mauriocracy throughout the history of Pixlies. According to critics of "real existing mauriocracy," attempts by Maurice at mauriocracy generally succeed for a time, but many mauriocratic states have fallen to invasions by neighboring states after they "shut up and fought" better.

Italy[edit | edit source]

Critics argue that in the Republic of Italia, vyketype/proto was kicked out of Maurice's political party for gaining too much popularity, more-so than Maurice himself.

California[edit | edit source]

"Maurice's demands for re-joining California"

After Maurice founded the California Republic, the precursor to the Pacific States, he allegedly fled the nation after Skulli's political party, the Whig party, secured a majority in the House of Representatives, and it was clear he could not win a presidential election under his own political party, the Democratic Socialists of California. Maurice offered terms to rejoin the nation which were seen by citizens as establishing a "dictatorship," or "another mauriocracy, but more explicit this time."

Responses[edit | edit source]

Maurice[edit | edit source]

According to Maurice, his republics are not made to consolidate power in his hands. He claims that, when he seemingly removes people from a republic for becoming too powerful, the actual reason for the removal is that they have a negative impact on the republic's community through rudeness or toxicity.

Emilian[edit | edit source]

Emilian responded to Skulli's question as to why the citizens of "Maurice Republics" tolerate the alleged abuses of power: "We don't unconditionally support him [Maurice]. There are people against him, but there aren't many because he is good at politics and understands it."

angryfishstick1[edit | edit source]

angryfishstick1, one of Maurice's closest allies, had not publicly made an opinion on the issue of mauriocracy for years. The first time angryfishstick1 publicly denounced mauriocracy was during the California Republic, where he alleges Maurice prevented him from having a say in the constitutional convention. He has spoken in favor of most of the other allegations against Maurice during the California Republic.
